Possible Positions

We will be hiring for several types of roles as we prepare to open.

Cafe Team Member

Cafe Team Members will help prepare drinks, desserts, gelato items, and customer orders. This role may include taking orders, making menu items, cleaning work areas, restocking supplies, and helping customers have a great experience.

This is a good fit for someone who enjoys people, likes hands-on work, and can stay focused during busy periods.

Shift Lead

Shift Leads will help keep the cafe running smoothly during assigned shifts. This role may include helping guide other team members, watching product quality, keeping the shop clean and stocked, handling customer issues, and communicating with ownership.

This is a good fit for someone with previous food service, retail, customer service, or leadership experience.

Opening Team

Our opening team will help us get Velvet Bean ready before the doors officially open. This may include training, recipe practice, cleaning, setup, organizing supplies, and learning the flow of the shop.

This is a good fit for someone who likes being part of a new business and understands that the early days require flexibility, patience, and teamwork.

What You May Be Doing

Depending on your role and shift, you may help with:

☕ Preparing coffee and espresso drinks
🥤 Making dirty sodas, lemonades, and specialty drinks
🍨 Scooping and serving gelato
🍰 Preparing dessert items
📦 Restocking cups, lids, syrups, toppings, and supplies
🧼 Cleaning counters, equipment, tables, and customer areas
🛎️ Taking customer orders
💳 Using the point-of-sale system
😊 Creating a welcoming customer experience
📋 Following recipes, checklists, and food safety procedures

Our Work Environment

Velvet Bean will be a clean, upbeat, customer-focused dessert cafe. Some moments will be calm and steady. Other moments will be busy, fast, and full of customers.

We need people who can stay kind, focused, and helpful in both situations.

Because we serve food and drinks, cleanliness and presentation matter. Team members will be expected to follow food safety standards, maintain good personal hygiene, and represent Velvet Bean in a way that fits the brand.

Experience Is Helpful, But Not Required

Previous experience in coffee, food service, ice cream, retail, or customer service is helpful, but it is not required for every position.

Availability

Velvet Bean will need team members with weekday, evening, and weekend availability. Exact hours and schedules will be determined as we get closer to opening.

Weekend availability may be especially important because dessert cafes often see strong traffic during evenings, family outings, community events, and church or school-related activity.
